Holiday Highlights & Lowlight
HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHT 1: Trans Tasman Trip
One of my favourite holiday highlights has got to be my Trans Tasman trip to Australia! We did lots of spectacular activities that I can list but here are a few. The kiwi day out where an Australian athlete (Robbie) took me out to extreme jump where we jumped on a cluster of trampolines that were even on the walls. He also took me for a swim at the olympic pool where the 2000 Sydney olympics was held. Another fantastic activity was travelling to Mac Arthurs shopping centre where I played arcade games and bowling with my friends. And eating delicious food such as Australian oporto burgers. However the most breath-taking experience was at Jamberoo Adventure Park where I dive-bombed off rocks like an albatross, sliding down the twisty and turny pitch black tunnel and getting engulfed by the forceful waves.
HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHT 2: Celebrating Christmas
My second holiday highlight was celebrating Christmas with my family. This event took place at my aunt's house. We had scrumptious food which included a lamb spit, prawns, kebabs and heaps more. Each household performed items. The best performance was obviously my group as the crowd was cheering loudest for us. Awesome presents & games were included and the one that stood out for me was the water games.
HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHT 3: Tag 20 Pacific Cup Challenge
It was a scorching hot day when 7 pacific nations including Niue, competed in the Tag 20 Pacific Cup challenge. This event was held at Bay Roskill Club earlier this year. I was there representing my homeland Niue (The Rock Of Polynesia!). We started with marching, following prayers and speeches from each country. After this the fun began. We roughly played 7 games and placed 4th overall in the under 12s section.
HOLIDAY LOWLIGHTS:
Fortunately I only had one holiday lowlight which was going to the Chinese Lantern Festival as there were way too much people, very limited food and really, really, really BAD ROCK MUSIC! It was definitely not what I expected.

Recount (Writing Test) Original And Edited Versions
EDITED VERSION:
The clock struck 10p.m on the 31st of December 2014. I was playing a game of Black Ops 2 with my older cousin Kingston at my uncle’s house in Panmure. I thought it would be like every other new years party we’ve had... boring, stink and possibly a headache because of all the horrific laughing. But turned out it wasn’t because this is the first year I could hear blasting loud music coming from the T.V speakers in the living room. My older cousin and I could hear screams of joy so we ran to the lounge to see what was going on. To our surprise the adults were gathered around the T.V screaming out the lyrics to the song All About That Bass while my younger cousins danced. Song after song I started getting hungry so I walked to the kitchen bench to see what was there to eat.
“Mmmmm delicious!” I stared as a big block of chocolate sat there lonely. But then as soon as I picked it up it was just a wrapper with nothing inside. I realised I was hallucinating. I shrug my shoulders and go to the table across from the kitchen to see if there is anything to eat or drink there. This time I didn’t imagine things because I had drank half a bottle of raspberry and gobbled a quarter of ready salted chips.
Feeling wrecked I looked down at my watch and the time read 11:45. “15 minutes to go!” I shout out to my family, making sure they hear me. Waiting as the minutes go by it’s 11:59 one more minute until New Years Day. I go back to the sitting room and tell my uncle to turn off the music cause the countdowns coming soon. As he grabs the xbox controller he exits the song picking another one but pausing just before it starts. My uncle then goes to his computer and clicks on the MAI FM link to listen to the countdown live. My uncle then counts down.....“10! 9! 8!,” Everyone joins in and were up to 5. “5! 4! 3! 2! 1! HAPPY NEW YEARS!!” Everyone screams!
After one huge CHEE HOO! Everyone started saying, “Happy new year!”. I went to my mum first and gave her a big hug and smooch on the cheek and said, “HAPPY NEW YEAR!” She replied back with, “I LOVE YOU!!” I started laughing and crying tears of joy. To make a long story short, after I greeted everyone with a happy new year my mum and I drove home.
I reckon News Years Eve and Day are the best days ever because you get to gather with your family and celebrate. It’s probably not better than your birthday if you’re a really spoilt kid like my friend Chris...Hehehehe!

Zeal Zone: Going Somewhere?
Activity 3
You are now going to have a serious THINK about your Going Somewhere? Investigation. What is it that you want to investigate and plan? (Highlight the correct statement)
I am going to plan a trip.
I am going to learn more about my dream job.
What exactly do you want to investigate? If it is a trip, where do you want to go, and what do you want to do while you are there? If it is your dream job, tell me about what you would like to do and why.
If I had the opportunity to go anywhere around the world it would be Paris. Why... because I could visit tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Sainte Chapelle, Disneyland Paris and National Museum of Modern Art in Paris.

Explores Of The Sunrise
Day one: Imagine you are a crew member, leaving your shore for the first day of the voyage. What you would have done that day and what you were looking forward to.
Dear Diary,
I’m scared yet excited. Scared because I will be leaving my family to go on a voyage with people I hardly know not knowing if I’ll return. Why I’m excited is that I’ve always wanted to sail across the ocean exploring the unknown. I have packed clothes for cold and hot conditions, first aid kit just incase if people get hurt, fishing rod to catch fish food and a portable pot to cook food on. After heaps of hugs & kisses to my mum and other family members I wave goodbye to them while boarding the boat.
Day thirty:
You have been on the waka for 30 days now...what may you be feeling now?
What are you now looking forward to?
Hey Diary,
My journey has been awesome and frightening at various times. My new friends and I caught 2 big snappers, 1 kingfish, heaps of salmon and 1 sword fish that almost sliced my leg off. We have also been through really freaking moments like shark attacks, stormy weather and rough seas. Which of course have caused us to get seasickness. We all have been praying daily to keep us safe when we travel, bless our family and make it back home alive.
