If I was to raise funds for the Para-Olympic New Zealand team I would:

- Organize a social worth $20 per person at Vector Arena, drinks and food will be free. Have special VIP guests such Lorde, Richie McCaw, Shaun Johnson etc... attend. I will be the DJ and the government will sponsor the spot prizes.

- Mini Olympic Carnival at Dunkirk Memorial grounds.  Entry will be $10.  Events would include pie eating competitions, photo booths, carnival rides, inflatable bouncy castles, mini obstacle courses, a waterslide and more.  Above is a sample of the ticket that would be handed out.

Both events would be run by volunteers, family and friends so that all the money raised will go to the para-olympic teams.

Famous Para-Cycling Team In NZ
Emma Foy, Laura Thompson
If I was to compete in the tandem cycling event and had to choose someone to compete with, I would have to choose my friend, Maurice. I would choose him as he is a good bike rider and is very humorous. He would make me laugh and be cheerful throughout the race.

Creative Writing.

The ceremony had just started and all of the Olympic athletes are parading around the stadium in their uniforms when all of a sudden... a whole group of people shout, "Kyats!" Jets dart past the gigantic 10025 square metre stadium (not actually size) and gunshots are being heard along with huge bombing noises. Screams flood through the streets and almost everywhere. People were frightened and confused by the unsurprised attack. As the CPRJS (Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro State) evacuated people I stood there and looked at peoples flustered, scared faces in slow-motion. I could feel their heartbreak as they probably had to spend lots of their money and savings just to go to an Olympic Ceremony then come to an invasion. I think everyone was shocked that Rio had been occupied by Kyats. As I daydreamed a kind, courages man grabbed me in the nick of time before a pillar dropped onto me. The ground suddenly shook and a huge explosion went off. KAABOOM! Everyone fell to the ground but unfortunately for me I blacked out and went unconscious.

If we were going to host the Olympics here in New Zealand in 2024 and I was invited to be on the committee that decides who is invited to participate in the opening ceremonies I would be gobsmacked. I reckon Lorde would be the best choice to be in the opening ceremony. She is the best choice as she is known world-wide from her music career.

Uniform 1
Uniform 1: Ranked No.1
Pros: Uniform is more classy, keep you warm outdoors when cold.
Con: Looks a bit tight.
Uniform 2: Ranked No.2
This uniform is plain and doesn't really show anything linked to New Zealand except for the silvern fern. Does look comfortable and you could move around easily.

Uniform 2

Uniform 3: Ranked No.3 Same as the uniform above lacks things linked to New Zealand. Can't really see what's on the uniform. Could possibly keep you warm though.

C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Jesse Owens image.jpg
Jesse Owens
Jesse Owens was a black American athlete who participated in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. He is considered to be one of the bravest and most inspirational Olympic athletes because he competed at a time when the leader of Germany (Adolf Hitler) did not want black men competing at the Olympic Games. The picture above is of Jesse from the 1930s. Someone in my family that inspires me is my uncle Christian Erick. He inspires me as he has achieved many things in his karate career including two gold medals as you can see in the photo of him below.

Majorie Gestring
Back in 1936 a 13 year old American girl named Majorie Gestring became the youngest person ever to win an Olympic gold medal. If I was alive back then, five questions I would ask her are:

- How did you feel when you claimed a gold medal at only 13 years old and being the youngest ever gold medalist?

- Were you congratulated by lots of people at school?

- Out of your family, where do you think you get your skills
from?

- Did you become very popular at school?

- If you had any advice for other people the same age as you or younger what would it be?

By watching the EDDIE THE EAGLE trailer for this year I think this story/movie is about a boy who never gives up and tries his hardest. Even though he doesn't succeed he keeps trying and has lots of spirit and courage in him.

Firstly I like the Maori man who is narrating because it sounds more native (authentic). I also like the way he explains everything which helps me understand what he's talking about. Great ending too but a downside would be he speaks a little to fast. Other than that one negative, I rate ***** for the "Be The Insipration" video.

I would want to meet Andrea Kilday as I like the sport she competes in Taekwondo. I've liked Taekwondo since 2009 when my uncle (Christian) competed in various competitions to claim gold medals. Overall it is her first time to an Olympic games so I would want to know how it would feel to go somewhere she hasn't experienced.

Rieko Ioane is a young speedstar who currently plays for the Auckland Blues. He made his debut last year at only 17 years old. Rieko was selected for the New Zealand Rugby Sevens team to compete at the Rio Olympics 2016.
Three interesting facts about him are:
- Him and his brother (Akira Ioane) are both playing in the New Zealand Sevens team.
- He attended Auckland Grammer School
- And he plays Centre/Winger the same positions I play.

Acrostic poem about the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Rapt with excitement
Intrigued by the many supporters
Overloaded with butterflies

Once in a life time opportunity
Lifted with joy
Young and free
Motivated by the competitors energy
Patiently waiting for the 18 hour trip to Rio to end
Impressed by the many cultures and countries competing
Coerced by the sweet scent of the Brigadiero
Stevenson's highlight for the year :)

Here is a photo of me pumping me legs towards the finishing line. As you can see some of the supporters are giggling at my as they think that I'm running in shades but it's actually my transitional prescription glasses.
(I've cropped the other runners out of the photo)

This year the Rugby Sevens are being reintroduced into the Olympics and I'm going to tell you somethings about it.

One interesting fact is that Sonny Bill Williams and his sister Niall Williams will both be competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the Rugby Sevens event.

The aim of the game is to score more points and win more penalties than the opposition team.

The rules of the game are:

 - Seven players aside (five subs), seven minutes halves (final can be 10 minutes)

- Two minute break (Half-time)

- Conversions must be dropkicked, Three player scrums

- The team that have just scored a try they have to kickoff

Tom and Vinicius Video Episode #1

I think this episode is about two glowing, flying balls which are forming Tom and Vinicius into a team. They could work together and get through things on their exciting adventure.

During the ancient Olympic Games, men were allowed to compete in the events but women were not. In fact, women were often forbidden from even watching the games. I reckon that this is an unfair rule as women should've been able to compete even to watch because what's wrong with having ladies watching or competing. Women should have the same rights as men.

Milo Of Kroton was 6th century BC wrestler from the Magna Graecian City of Croton. Here are some interesting facts about him.

- He was a six time Olympic Victor

- It was said that Milo saved Pythagoras’ (philosopher) life when a pillar collapsed in a banquet hall and he supported the roof until Pythagoras could reach safety.

-His daily diet allegedly consisted of 20 lb of meat, 20 lb of bread, and eighteen pints of wine.

Winter Learning Journey Day 1:Activity 1

C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Boxing gloves (ancient games).jpg

If I was alive 2792 years ago and was invited to compete in the first ever ancient Olympic Games I would have to pick out of 6 events. Running, wrestling, boxing, pankration, horse racing and pentathlon. Out of the choices I would have to pick boxing as it’s a favourite sport of mine and a enjoyable sport to learn.
