Winter Learning Journey D1:A2

Milo Of Kroton was 6th century BC wrestler from the Magna Graecian City of Croton. Here are some interesting facts about him.

- He was a six time Olympic Victor

- It was said that Milo saved Pythagoras’ (philosopher) life when a pillar collapsed in a banquet hall and he supported the roof until Pythagoras could reach safety.

-His daily diet allegedly consisted of 20 lb of meat, 20 lb of bread, and eighteen pints of wine.

  1. Hi Stevenson,

I really like the facts that you have chosen to include for this post. I am familiar with Milo's Olympic feats and his heroics (eg. saving Pythagoras' life) but I had never before read anything about his diet. Wow! Can you imagine consuming 20 lb of meat, 20 lb of bread and 18 pints of wine at any stage in your life? I certainly couldn't!

    Cheers, Rachel
