Hari Merdeka or Independence Day.

What would you would eat?
On Hari Merdeka I would eat very traditional Malaysian Foods such as Nasi Lemak (rice and vegetables).
What would you would see?
I would see the military men and women and lots of other people dressed up. I would probably see Mr. Najib Rezak and his family.
What would you do to celebrate the day?
Dress up in my suit and tie. Participate in the parades, events and maybe go to the concerts.

Waitangi Day
For the past 3 years I have been visiting Waitangi where the Treaty was signed, with my family. After visiting the grounds I usually relax or have a family lunch. I like Waitangi day as I get a long weekend away from school.

!~Gaming Day~!

During my public holiday everybody will get a day off for gaming. There will be Black Ops 2, Minecraft, Tekken and other games held at different locations. This would give kids and adults the opportunity to try different games.  There would also be tournaments around the country for experts to play against each other.

Malaysian Prime Minister – Mr. Dato' Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Najib Razak.jpgThe current prime minister of Malaysia is Mr. Najib Razak. He is the 6th prime minister of the country. He became the prime minister in April 2009. He is married tohis wife, Rosmah, and together they have five children.

Rules/Laws I Would Make If I Were The Prime Minister
  1. Rich people have to donate 30% of their earnings to the government which would go to charities.
  2. No homeless people on the street…  build small cottages for them to live in.
  3. If there are smart kids who come from a poor family they will get free education from any school of their choice.
  4. Unlimited internet for Year 5s - Year 13s gadgets and devices.
Barack Obama Interesting Facts

  1. He collects Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comics
  2. He was known as "O'Bomber" at high school for his basketball skills.
  3. His name means "one who is blessed" in Swahili
  4. Somethings are common to my life. For example he lived with his grandparents which I’m doing now. He looked like me when I was a baby. Also he’s helped the poor which is what I would like to do if I was Prime Minister or President.

I wouldn’t want to be the Prime Minister as my daily job as I would have to much responsibilities and work to do everyday. But I would like to experience a day in the life of a Prime Minister because I think it would be a great learning opportunity and I actually might like it.
I would like to be a Politician and help people in my community like Simon O’connor who looks after the Tamaki area.

The dance moves
What didn’t you like?
Nothing really just that I didn’t understand the words. But it’s like Gangnam Style a catchy song in a different language.

It’s kind of similar just the language is different.

Summer Learning Journey W2:D6

Compare the breakfast foods that you are typically eaten in the country are you visiting with normal New Zealand breakfast foods.
Are they similar or are they different?

The foods they eat in Malaysia are waaaaay, way different.

What do you think of the foods?
Fried Noodles sounds and looks okay. But Nasi Lemak #1 and #2 doesn’t look pleasing to me.

Fried Noodles Nasi Lemak #1 Nasi Lemak #2

Would you like to eat them for your breakfast?

No as it's something I don’t really eat.

Summer Learning Journey W1:D1 2016

The world is a very big and very cool place. There are currently 196 countries and approximately 7.1 billion people living on earth. For this project we are going to focus on 6 countries across 6 continents:
  1. Canada - North America
  2. Malaysia - Asia
  3. United Kingdom - United Kingdom
  4. Germany - Europe
  5. Chile - South America
  6. New Zealand - Australasia

Day 1 Activities
Please click on the ‘World Map’ tab on the main menu. It will bring you to a big map. The map has six pins, one for each of the six countries. Click on the name of each country to read the Quick Facts about that place. After you have finished reading about the six countries you must choose ONE country that you would like to visit. In your blog list the name of the country and explain why you have chosen to travel to that country.  You will need to remember the country that you have chosen because you will be visiting it each day.
Malaysia: Blog Post 4pts.
After reading the quick facts I would like to visit malaysia as I want to explore the awesome beaches and rainforests; things they’re known for. Also experience the capital Kuala Lumpur to see the colonial buildings and skyscrapers especially the iconic 451m-tall Petronas Twin Towers.

Extra Facts: 3pts.

  • Malaysia shares land borders with Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei and is linked to Singapore by a causeway and bridge.
  • The Petronas Towers have remained the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 and are still regarded as the world's tallest 'twin' buildings.
  • Some of the popular sports played in Malaysia include football, badminton, field hockey, bowls, tennis, squash, martial arts, sailing, horse riding, and skateboarding (Mostly ones I don’t play).
  • The national animal of Malaysia is the endangered Malayan Tiger which averages 8ft 6in(259 cm) for male and 7ft 10in(239 cm) for female.
