Winter Learning Journey D5:A2

Majorie Gestring
Back in 1936 a 13 year old American girl named Majorie Gestring became the youngest person ever to win an Olympic gold medal. If I was alive back then, five questions I would ask her are:

- How did you feel when you claimed a gold medal at only 13 years old and being the youngest ever gold medalist?

- Were you congratulated by lots of people at school?

- Out of your family, where do you think you get your skills
from?

- Did you become very popular at school?

- If you had any advice for other people the same age as you or younger what would it be?

  1. Hi Stevenson,

These are great questions for Marjorie! I also wonder how she was treated by her peers and class mates when she went back to school after winning the Olympic gold medal. I would imagine that it would have been slightly awkward for her as some people may have been a bit jealous of her success and they might not have treated her very well. It's quite sad when that happens, isn't it? Let's hope that everyone was primarily really supportive and happy for her.

As a little aside, when you go write out questions, can you please make sure to add question marks at the end of each question? That way we know that you are asking a question rather than stating a fact. Thanks :)

Keep up the awesome blogging, Stevenson. You only have three activities left and then you will have completed the entire journey. Wow! You are so close...

    Cheers, Rachel :)
